The Sands Room sits in its own gardens adjacent to the Sands Recreation Ground and consists of a hall with small stage area (16.75m x 6m total), kitchen and lavatories. There is limited parking on-site, though on street parking is available, plus parking is also available in the British Legion's car park on weekdays only.
Usage of The Sands Room has steadily increased over the last few years and regular users include the local Wednesday Group, bridge club, art classes, yoga and Pilates classes. It is also used as a Polling Station, for Parish Council meetings, christening celebrations, wedding receptions and all manner of community events including our annual Summer Show and street parties.
A Volunteer Management Committee is responsible for the day to day administration of The Sands Room which is self-financing from income generated from rentals.
The Sands Room was built in 1897. It was a gift to the people of the village by Mrs T M Kitchin who lived at Great Down on the Hog’s Back above the Seale Valley.
